The first stage of the 75th Tour de Pologne took place last Saturday. Thousands of supporters gathered at the start-line and at the finish line, together with exceptional guests. The VIP Carrefour Zone was located at the Błonia Park in Krakow and welcomed around 100 people: representatives of media, public institutions, business and scientific communities, as well as Carrefour business partners. Representatives of the Board of the company were also there, together with employees from the regional board, headquarters and stores.
The winner of this first stage was Pascal Ackermann, who triumphed after an incredible last final sprint, and received the victory cup from the hands of the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. He has been also congratulated by the Mayor of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski, and obtained the yellow jersey of General Classification Carrefour, given by Rober Noceń, Secretary General of Carrefour Poland. This yearly edition is special because it marks 90 years since the organization of the first national race, and Poland is also celebrating this year its 100th anniversary of regaining its independence. Thus, this cycling event in 2018 is organized under the slogan “National Race of the Independence”.
Many cycling fans also visited the Carrefour Village of the Supporter located near the finish line, where they could encourage the competitors together with the company’s team and take part in activities specially dedicated for them. Cycling lovers will also be able to visit the Village of the Supporter at different stages of the race, as it will be available at every start and finish lines until the end of the Tour de Pologne at Bukowina Tatrzańska.
