For the Love of Health

Launched by Carrefour in 2014 , the campaign aims to increase nutritional awareness, encourage Polish people to be active and promote a healthy lifestyle. As part of this campaign, Carrefour carries out initiatives such as: “the ABC of Healthy Nutrition”, “SENS system” and “the Healthy assortment”. The company also sponsors national and local sporting events.

The ABC of Healthy Nutrition

Carried out by Carrefour since 2015, this educational program aims to increase nutritional awareness in Poland. Thanks to this program, people who participated in the workshops gained more knowledge about healthy eating rules, the preparation of balanced meals and how to read product labels properly.

This initiative is part of the campaign “For the Love of Health” and its preparation was supervised by the Faculty of Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences of Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

The first edition who consisted in 240 workshops, was dedicated to children and seniors. Its results confirmed the need to pursue those educational activities. For the second edition of this program, launched in 2016 under the name “ the ABC of Children Nutrition”, more than 1 000 participants, with among them 35% with a disadvantaged financial background, took part in the workshops. In October 2017, we inaugurated the third edition of this program.

The SENS System

The SENS System

SENS, i.e. Simplified Nutritional Labelling System (in French: Système d’étiquetage nutritionnel simplifié) is an innovative way to provide customers with dietary guidelines based on the nutritional and energetic value of products. SENS was created for helping customers to choose the appropriate products for maintaining a healthy and balanced diet. The clear and understandable logo SENS, which can be found on the front of product packages, helps consumers to understand the provided nutritional information. The SENS logo appears on Carrefour own-label food products as well as on products with the label “Jakość z Natury”.

Quality and safety

In Carrefour stores, quality is a top priority. This applies to Carrefour own-label products as well as to products directly made in stores. Before being launched in stores, they have to get through a series of consumer and quality tests, in order to best meet our customers’ needs. We follow good hygiene and production practices, and constantly improve our recipes and train our employees. We test food products in accredited laboratories and work with independent experts for testing nearly 4 000 products per year!
