Waste management

The key principles developed at Carrefour for implementing and improving waste management are:

  • preventing waste production,
  • reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills,
  • reusing and recycling waste,
  • safe waste storage,
  • transferring waste to authorized and licensed organizations.

In 2016, and as a result of the transfer of biowaste to compost sites, we reduced the amount of waste sent to landfills by over 2 500 tons. Our main goal is to recycle 100% of the waste of hyper and supermarkets by 2025.
