This yearly edition of the Tour de Pologne, won by Michał Kwiatkowski, was organized as part of the 100th Anniversary of Poland regaining its Independence, and was celebrating 90 years after the organization of the first national race. The yellow jersey of the “General Classification Carrefour” was given to the Polish cyclist by Marcin Olech, Director of Marketing, New Technologies and IT, who also offered him a 25 000 PLN prize. The retail chain had also prepared for all the supporters many unforgettable animations at each start and finish lines of the different stages of the race.
During all the duration of the race, Carrefour invited fans to support the competitors and to spend time in an active way in its Villages of the Supporter. Each cycling lover could find there many pro-health activities such as: spinning bikes, a sport quiz on a big running wheel, and could take part in activities in a trampoline mini park, as well as in contests for winning prizes. The Carrefour areas were visited during the 7-day race by hundreds of thousands of people.
It is worth mentioning that representatives of Carrefour also appeared on the trail of the Tour de Pologne Amateurs. This yearly competition took place on 10th August in Bukowina Tatrzańska. The cyclists had to cover a 58-km distance with challenging roads, even for professionals. 84 teams met on the start line, with among them, the Carrefour Cycling Team, which was composed by nearly 20 people and was taking part in the race for the second time. The Carrefour Team, which took up the challenge, gathered employees from different Headquarters’ departments, Regional Directors, as well as representatives of Carrefour stores in locations such as: Gliwice, Kłodzko, or Zielona Góra. The participation of Carrefour’s employees in the Tour de Pologne Amateurs is in line with the activities of the company related to the realization of the food transition strategy and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
